Solar Shield Blinds is a family run company based in Whitstable, Kent. Originally founded nearly 30 years ago by Trevor Watson, the business is now run by Trevor's son - Robert Watson.
As a business, we have over 50 years industry experience and pride ourselves on carrying out work to the highest standards and providing you with a first class service. With so many years’ experience we truly are specialists and as such are able to offer you a wide-range of products and materials. With a flexible approach we happily accommodate orders both large and small, commercial and domestic. We fit everything from one blind or curtain in your home to entire new developments, office conversions, universities, laboratories and even screening in fire training areas in fire stations.
Robert Watson
Robert Watson now runs Solar Shield Blinds and through working for and with his father for over 10 year's has gained an incredible wealth of industry experience, as well as a valuable understanding of what is involved in running a business such as this. Aside from his specialist knowledge in blinds and curtains he is by nature a highly practical person and can turn his hand to fathoming out the workings of virtually everything - mechanical, electrical or otherwise!
A keen fisherman and pool player, Robert can be found either assisting the local pool team to victory, chilling out at home with his wife (and cat!) or travelling far and wide to find the perfect fishing spot. This includes most of Kent, parts of the Cotswolds, Suffolk, Norfolk, Portugal and Cuba!
Trevor Watson - Founder
After 22 years working in the blinds, shutters and curtains industry as a Sales Director, Trevor took the daunting leap in 1985 to go it alone and start his own business - Solar Shield Blinds. This is particularly admirable as at the time he was supporting a wife and three young children. Quite quickly be begun to successfully build the business in the Kent and London areas by establishing an excellent reputation for quality and service. Since these early beginnings the business has flourished and after nearly 30 years, Trevor is now proud to be able to pass his knowledge and his business on to his youngest son - Robert. Trevor is reluctantly learning to take it easy! But still has a hand in the business and assists Robert in some of the larger installs undertaken.
When relaxing you can find Trevor enjoying a pub lunch with his family somewhere in Whitstable, driving about in his sports car or playing the trombone with the 1st Whitstable Scouts Brass Band.
Jackie Watson
As the saying goes.....'Behind every great man......'
This is a true family business and it is fair to say that the business would not have flourished quite so well without the assistance of Trevor's wife - Jackie Watson. Jackie has always been at the heart of the business and completes all the administration and book-keeping tasks as well as the myriad of other tasks related to running a business - all whilst raising three children, running the 1st and then the 7th Whitstable Cub Pack and working part-time in a school! Just your regular superwoman.
As you can tell Jackie isn't one for relaxing and still spends most her time trying to take care of everyone else! But she is partial to a lunch with family and friends and enjoys walks around Whitstable.
