The lining changes how a panel works, so we choose it room by room. An unlined panel lets light glow through and will fade over time. We hang the rod higher than most people expect. We fix it close to the ceiling, or about two thirds of the way between the top of the casing and the ceiling, then run the panels all the way to the floor. That makes the wall read taller, and ordering panels at two to two and a half times the width of the window gives you full, soft folds.

Roman Shades come in six styles, and the Classic Roman is the one to pick when you want a pattern to show, while the Hobbled fold has the fullest look. Most of our drapery goes up next to a shade, with a Roller Shade or a Natural Woven Shade at the glass doing the light control while the fabric finishes the room.
