Where It Fits In Washington
Where Drapery & Soft Treatments Fit In Washington
Fabric works in an older living room near the Square as well as in a new great room, and it layers over a shade or stands on its own.
- Tall Great RoomsPanels hung near the ceiling and run to the floor bring a tall wall of glass into proportion, and a motorized traverse rod handles the ones you can't reach.
- BedroomsBlackout lined panels or a blackout lined Roman Shade darken a bedroom, and a cornice on top stops the light leaking over the top.
- Living Rooms Near DowntownStationary side panels add color and softness beside an older window without covering the glass or the trim.
- Window Seats And BenchesWe sew cushions for window seats, kitchen benches and banquettes from the same fabrics as the drapery.
Fabric And Lining
Sewn in our own workroom, hung and dressed in your home
Most drapery we make hangs alongside a shade, with the shade handling light and privacy and the fabric finishing the window. We source fabric from mills around the world, and with thousands of custom fabrics, your Design Specialist helps you narrow it down at your own windows.
Lining decides how a panel performs. Unlined fabric is translucent and fades over time, lined panels hang better and block more light, and interlined panels are heavier still. Fabric also softens the echo in a room with hard floors and big windows, which makes a real difference in a new open floor plan.
Our Install Techs hang the drapery on install day, then steam each panel and dress the folds by hand until they fall evenly. Roman Shades come in six styles, all cordless, and you can plan on 4 to 6 weeks from order to install.
