Skylights

Skylight Window Solutions

Skylight windows are a great way to let light pour into a room, but along with the light comes a lot of negatives. The harsh direct sunlight bakes surfaces and can damage and fade flooring and furniture. The heat that builds up from that direct sunlight can make it hard for HVAC systems to keep up and keep the room temperature regulated. And, the direct sunlight can be blinding at times. Our Solar Shield Blinds Skylight Shades are a great option for bringing elevated comfort to your home. The harsh light is now able to glow into the room, without causing damage to surfaces, and without all of the heat build up. The HVAC system of your home can work less and help keep things more comfortable. And you won't be blinded by the sun!

Entryways

Sidelight Glass Solutions

The two panes of glass on either side of a front door are called Sidelights. Sidelights offer lots of light and a big view to the outside, but they also create some pretty big problems at your front door. Privacy is usually the biggest concern as anyone standing on your porch or even sidewalk can often times see right into your home, especially at night. Harsh direct sunlight can also be a problem as it can lead to sun damage on your flooring near the door, and heat can build up very quickly in your entry area. We have a number of different Sidelight Glass Solutions that will allow you to cover those narrow panes of glass, while still keeping the view and light that you want, without sacrificing your privacy when you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Arches, angles, octagons, ovals and eyebrow arches all get a custom covering, and we've fitted a few shapes we don't have a name for. Plantation Shutters are built to any shape or size, and Honeycomb Shades handle arches, angles and skylights. A Design Specialist templates the opening in your home so the product is made to the glass, not to a size chart.

No. Everything we put on a slider stacks clear of the panel that moves. Vertical honeycomb stacks to about six inches, panel tracks slide to one side, and Roller Shades roll into a three inch roll at the top with magnetic hold downs at the bottom so the fabric stays put when the door opens. Tell us which panel moves and we design around it.

They do, because the handle sits in the way and the door swings. We mount the treatment to the door itself, cut around the hardware where the product allows it, and hold the bottom so nothing bangs when the door closes. Plantation Shutters with a handle cutout, Honeycomb Shades and Roller Shades all work, and the same fabric can carry across the windows beside the door.

Yes, and it's the sidelight request we hear most. Top Down Bottom Up Honeycomb Shades set a privacy line at eye level and leave the top of the glass open for light. Shutters tilt closed after dark and open again in the morning, and a light filtering Roller Shade glows without letting anyone on the porch see in.

They are on nearly every skylight we do, because nobody wants a pole twice a day. Honeycomb Shades run in side tracks that hold the shade up against the ceiling, and a rechargeable motor with solar recharge means no wiring and no ladder. The shade cuts the direct sun that bakes the floor and lets a soft glow through instead.

Our Solar Shield Blinds Exterior Patio Shades carry a 75 mph wind rating with wind rated side tracks, and they keep out wind, rain, snow, ice and bugs along with the sun. Push button control comes standard, and sun and wind sensors retract the shades for you when a storm rolls in. Plan on 8 to 10 weeks from order to install.

Yes. We replace main curtains, side curtains, back curtains and stage valances, and we plan new systems for facilities still on the drawing board. The track is heavy duty so the curtains travel properly for years, and we can have your logo embroidered on the main curtain. Our own Install Techs hang everything.

Ask for cordless. Every line we carry has a Cordless Lift or motorized option, which is what we install in schools, nursing homes and daycares. Wood and Faux Wood Blinds come cord free, Honeycomb Shades have a Cordless Lift and Lock, and a rechargeable motor takes the cord out of the picture entirely on tall or hard to reach windows.

It's free, and we bring the shop to you. A Design Specialist brings samples, measures every opening, and writes an exact itemized quote on the spot, with no high pressure. The price holds for 180 days. Once you order, our own full time Install Techs do the install, and most projects are done in less than a day.

Exterior Patio Shades and Plantation Shutters, which run 8 to 10 weeks from order to install. Interior window treatments average 4 to 6 weeks. Any window you order for gets free paper temp shades installed right away, so you're covered while the custom product is built.
