Rain And Wind Are Hard On An Outdoor Patio

Rain and strong winds typically create big problems for outdoor patio spaces. Soaked cushions, saturated area rugs, pillows that get blown down the street, and TVs that need to be covered. And you don’t always have the ability to prepare for every storm. That’s where our Solar Shield Blinds Exterior Patio Shades come in. Watch this video to see how we can help you protect your outdoor deck or patio from extreme weather, and leave your outdoor living space set up and ready for use, no matter what the weather is doing outside.

The morning after the stormRain water in the screens, a dry patio underneath

The Morning After A Wild Thunderstorm

This is a perfect example of how our Solar Shield Blinds Exterior Patio Shades can block out the rain. This video was taken the morning after a wild thunderstorm had moved through the area. Wind was swirling, and the rain was being driven toward the patio from every direction as the storm moved through. If our shades would not have been down through the storm, the entire patio, all of the furniture, the area rug, and the TV would have all been totally saturated. Leaving a mess that would have needed to be cleaned up, and cushions that would have needed to be dried out, not to mention a TV that would likely need to be replaced.

However, the fact that our Exterior Patio Shades were closed help prevent 95% of any direct moisture from entering the space at all, leaving the majority of the patio completely dry to the touch.

The little amount of water that did make it through the shades only left a little bit of thin water just around the perimeter of the patio but nothing was saturated, soaked, or ruined.

Clear And Dry 30 Minutes Later

During the video you can see that the rain water has filled in the tiny holes of the screen material, but the tops of the screens are already drying out. This image shows the same exact screens only 30 minutes after the video was taken, showing the screens completely clear and dry. Both the screen and the interior surfaces are able to quickly dry out after a rain event, leaving the patio dry and ready for use when you want it.

The Screen And The Tracks That Make It Work

The power of our Solar Shield Blinds Exterior Patio Shades is in the solar screen material we use. This project used our Nano 95 screen, which only allows 5% of air, UV rays, and moisture through the openness of the screen. But it allows for a crisp and clear view out when the screen is dry. Our Self Adjusting Tracks are the reason the shades can stay down in extreme storm winds. We’ve created a system that is built for the extreme Midwest weather and built to help provide elevated comfort to your outdoor living space, year round.
