Worth Knowing

One shade, four settings, and the bedroom exception

A Banded Shade is one continuous fabric of horizontal solid and sheer stripes that loops around the roll. Move it a few inches and the sheers line up for an open, striped view. Move it again and the solids overlap for privacy, or stop anywhere in between for filtered light. It's the most adjustable shade we carry, and the one our clients tell us they play with the most.

The fabrics come in two families. Light filtering keeps a room bright with the bands closed, which suits most kitchens and living rooms in Liberty. Light dimming cuts more of the sun, for a den or a west facing room. Neither one is a blackout. Choose Standard Chain Loop, Cordless Lift, PowerWand or Motorized, and if you go motorized, a scene saves a specific band position that's hard to hit the same way twice by hand. The fabric wrapped bottom rail comes standard.

Closed, the solid bands meet at a seam rather than a seal, so a little light comes through, and for a primary bedroom we pair a Banded Shade with a blackout shade behind it. In a traditional room with a lot of stained trim near the Square, wood blinds, shutters or a Natural Woven Shade can suit the room better, and we'll say so. Your Design Specialist brings the samples to your Liberty home, and Banded Shades are installed 4 to 6 weeks after you order.

Banded Shades questions from Liberty homeowners

Same product, different name. Zebra shades, dual shades and banded shades all describe the alternating solid and sheer stripes that let you go from open to private without raising the shade. We call them Banded Shades, and we custom make them for each Liberty window we measure.

With the solid bands lined up, yes, for practical purposes. With a lamp on at night, a silhouette can still register through the seams, so in a bedroom or bathroom in a newer Liberty subdivision we pair them with a blackout shade or a lined drapery panel.

Yes. A light dimming fabric takes the punch out of the late afternoon sun without closing off the yard, and on a wide window, two independently operating shades on one headrail keep the look unified. A motor makes a large window easy to run.

Yes. Three of the four operating systems, Cordless Lift, PowerWand and Motorized, have no accessible cord at all. On a tall or hard to reach window in a Liberty two story, the right answer is a chain loop with a child safe hold down or a motor.

Yes, and it's worth knowing before you order. Light gaps are part of how a Banded Shade works, a shallow casing leaves privacy gaps, and an out of square window makes the gaps more noticeable. Your Design Specialist looks at each window in your Liberty home and shows you where you'll see light.

Banded Shades reach Liberty homes 4 to 6 weeks after you order, and most installs take a single day. Free temporary shades go up on the windows you've ordered for right away, and your price holds for 180 days from the day we quote it.
